Adams, James William and (Adams) Clara Mae – 24 viewsThis is one set of Sandy's grandparents. James William Adams and Clara Mae Adams (no relation) were married August 7, 1911 in Knox County, Indiana. Clara was widowed much too early leaving many of the children to not remember their father well at all.

Adams, James William and Adams, Clara Mae (Adams) – 19 viewsThese are Sandy's paternal grandparents. Interestingly, Clara Mae was an Adams by birth, and of no known relation to James Adams who she married.
James William's branch of Adamses from Harrison Township, Knox County, Indiana had been there since the 1806, with Samuel Adams Sr. (born 1750 in Pennsylvania) moving there at that time. There is a journal which details the journey from Fayette County, Pennsylvania to his Knox County, Indiana holdings.
Clara Mae's branch moved into Knox County from Kentucky about in the 1850's. Her father, William Gilbert Adams, was born in Knox County after his father, Gilbert, married Sarah Alexander. Gilbert's probate about 1873 makes it plain that his widow, Sarah, was William Gilbert's mother.
