Corporal Jake Hittle, 1820-1905
Company A, Thirty-Sixth Iowa Infantry, US Volunteers , Oct 1862 - August 1865
His grandfather Michael Hittel served in Captain Santee's Company, 5th Battalion, Northampton County Militia, in the Revolution. Jake was born in Greene County, Ohio and was a resident of Lovilia, Monroe County, Iowa at the time of his enlistment. He was a carpenter. In 1887 he and his wife Huldah Jane Hittle moved to rural Castana, Monona County, Iowa.
